School Clubs

We are delighted to offer our pupils a super range of activities during and after the school day. 

Please complete this paperwork if your child is in Reception or KS1 and would like to join one of the sports clubs. 

Dance

  • Dance club runs every Tuesday until Tuesday 8th July 2025.
  • Places will be reallocated if a child does not attend for two consecutive sessions (unless this is due to illness).
  • Clubs will start at 3.15pm and finish at 4.15pm prompt.
  • If the club is oversubscribed your child will be placed on a waiting list and you will be notified as soon as a place becomes available.
  • Children must wear suitable PE kit for each session including footwear. If they don’t, we will contact you to come and collect them and they will be unable to attend the session.
  • All clubs are funded via the sports premium allocated to school and therefore, there is no charge to parents/carers.

Tag Rugby

  • Multi-sports club runs every Wednesday until Wednesday 9th July 2025

Stretch & Flexibility Club

Following on from the success of our new after school clubs, we are introducing a stretch & flexibility class led by Cassie from the Icon Dance Academy.

This club will provide an opportunity for children build on their balance and coordination skills in a safe environment with a qualified coach. The coaches are certified, safeguarding trained, DBS checked all with backgrounds in education and community engagement.

Children will need to bring their own suitable clothing to wear.

The club will run from 3:10pm until 4:15pm on the following dates:

  • 5th June
  • 12th June
  • 19th June
  • 26th June
  • 3rd July
  • 10th July

Cockburn Haigh Road Wrap Around Care

Breakfast Club

  • The breakfast club provision is open to children attending Cockburn Haigh Road Academy from 7.45am Monday to Friday term time only.
  • Children attending the breakfast club will be taken to their classrooms for the start of the school day.

The breakfast club provision will provide a balanced breakfast. The after school provision will provide a balanced snack but this is not a substitute for an evening meal.

 

Breakfast Club Drop Off

  • Drop off must not be any earlier than 7.45am.
  • Your child should be signed into the breakfast club by a member of staff on duty (please do not allow them to walk in on their own).
  • A register will also be taken every morning.
     

After School club

  • The after school care is open to children attending Cockburn Haigh Road Academy and Rothwell Victoria Junior School. The provision operates from 3.10pm to 6.00pm Monday to Friday term time only for KS1 and KS2 children. The provision will close at 5.30pm for EYFS children.
  • Children will come to after school care at the end of their school day. Children who attend Rothwell Victoria School will be collected via the walking school bus at the end of their school day. A register will be taken on arrival at Rothwell Victoria and then taken again at Cockburn Haigh Road.
  • Children should be collected via the main school entrance no later than 6.00pm. Persistent late pick up will be charged for at £10 per hour (or part hour) and may result in the place being withdrawn. If you need to get in touch regarding any before/after school issues (collections etc.), please contact the school office during school hours on 0113 5128746.
  • Children should not bring their own toys, games or any other items of value onto the school site.

 

To secure a place in before or after school care (BASC)

  • Bookings must be made in advance via the school office 0113 5128746 or by emailing admin@cockburnhaighroad.org
  • A registration form must be completed; children will not be accepted without this document.
  • Four weeks’ notice is required to end provision for your child(ren). This must be given by notifying the school office in writing.

Drama Club

Dear Parents/ Carers,

From Tuesday 22nd April until Tuesday 20th May Cockburn Haigh Road Academy is offering a fantastic opportunity for children to engage in a school drama club lead by Miss Bradbury.

CHRA Drama Club will be an incredible way to introduce our young people to the world of drama. Miss Bradbury, a music and drama specialist, will be leading performance-based activities and games influenced by The Royal Opera House and her own professional experience. Children will learn how to express themselves, gain confidence and develop respect for their own and each other’s individuality.

This afterschool club will focus on:

1.    Wellbeing

2.    Confidence

3.    Communication

4.    Last but by no means least … FUN!

So, if when reading this you think it would be perfect for your child and they want to be a part of the CHRA Drama Club please sign up below and pass the reply slip to their class teacher by 21st March 2025. The club will run from 3:10pm until 4:15pm.

Roller-skating Club

Following on from the success of the roller-skate sessions in the Autumn term, we are introducing an afterschool roller-skating club led by Lottie from LS-TEN and the Skate Scholarship.

This club will provide an opportunity for children build on their balance and coordination skills and a safe environment with a qualified coach. The coaches are certified, safeguarding trained, DBS checked all with backgrounds in education and community engagement.

What will the skate sessions involve?

The children will learn how to stand and balance in skates before progressing onto safe movements. They will also learn simple ways to stop and control their movements. The sessions will be fun and include different games and activities.

Roller-skates and safety equipment will be provided for the sessions. This will include: helmets, knee pads and wrist guards. Children will need to bring their own suitable clothing to wear.

The club will run from 3:10pm until 4:15pm on the following dates:
